Singapore
"Singapore is a global financial center with a tropical climate and multicultural population."
It is a small country in Asia, but it "ranks 10th in the world for the number of skyscrapers." Very impressive. It is considered a "contemporary, commercial, and cosmopolitan city-state."
Here are some of the places I've seen in Singapore . . .
Merlion Park is a Singapore landmark. The Merlion is a mythical creature with a lion's head and the body of a fish that is used as an official mascot and national personification of Singapore. Anyone who is visiting Singapore must have a photo of this creature, and I did. Seeing Merlion spitting water was fun.
Esplanade is theaters on the bay. It is a performing arts center in downtown near Esplanade Park and the mouth of the Singapore River. The hall seats about 1,600, and the theatre has a capacity of 2,000. I didn't have a chance to go inside. It must be state of the art.
Singapore is one of the shopping hubs in Asia, a fashion paradise for tourists who come not only to see the sights but to shop. Those world-class brands are at the giant malls of Orchard Road and boutiques in Kampong Glam. So if shopping is your hobby and an expensive brand is your choice, buy your plane ticket to Singapore.
Two things about me, I am not fun of shopping and good at window shopping. I would rather spend my money traveling to places than buying an expensive purse. But that's just me.
The Chinatown Heritage Center is a "time capsule that holds stories of Singapore's past." If you get a chance to visit this place, you will be able to "retrace the journey of those who left their villages in China, escaping famine, flood, and civil unrest to find a better life in Singapore."
I spotted the American Embassy while walking on the bridge. So I needed to stop and take a photo.
One of them is Sentosa. I remember they were building it when I was there. Sentosa is an island resort connected to the city by road, cable car, pedestrian boardwalk, and monorail.
Marina Bay Sands is another one. It is a high-end commercial city and a beautiful landscape.
Another impressive structure to see is the Helix Bridge. It is a steel pedestrian bridge linking Marina Centre with Marina South.
If you're a visitor, cleanliness is one thing that you will notice and appreciate. As a matter of fact, it is illegal to chew gum in Singapore unless you have a prescription. Buying or importing it into the country is illegal; most importantly, you can't spit it in the streets. So be aware of this.
I love Singapore's slogan - - "We're Where Passion Made Possible."
