St. Lucia

My two friends and the Pitons.

The Pitons are twin volcanic mountains and a majestic landmark of St. Lucia.  These mountains are called Petit Piton and Gros Piton. These two incredible mountains are comparable to my two wonderful friends, Ryan and John.  

The Pitons is the "most photographed site in the Caribbean and the most famous mountain pair on earth."  "It was created less than a million years ago by volcanic activity." It is a World Heritage Site and known to have mystical powers. We didn't get too close to the mountains, but we felt the energy radiated to us. 

The Pitons change their appearance dramatically when viewed from different locations.  When viewed from the south, the mountains look much farther apart.  While when viewed from the north, they appear like identical twins.  We viewed it from few angles, and we were mesmerized by its magnificent beauty.

 

St. Lucia is a small tropical island.  Its shape is said to resemble either a mango or an avocado.  No wonder there are lots of mangoes on the island. 

We were on a mango island, so we stayed in Mango Beach Inn at Marigot Bay. I love this place! We had a fun short boat ride to the resort. It was an exclusive stay because there were no other guests at that time. Lucky us!  A bell to ring when you arrive and a bed with a cute mosquito net are unique features of this beautiful place.  Not only that but our breakfast served with fresh mango fruit and juice, overlooking a fantastic view, was part of our luxurious tropical vacation.   To leave behind our great memories, I gave my selfie stick to this girl at the inn who was hoping to own one. It was our reward for our gratitude. 

A must-see attraction is the Marigot Bay.  It is a historic landmark that was the site of several battles between the French and British. It has been used for background in many Hollywood films and was an inspiration to the song "Marigot Bay," popularized during the 1980s.  Another popular attraction is the La Soufriere volcano, which is the world's only drive-in volcanic crater. We didn't explore it, but I am looking forward to seeing this on my next visit. 

We didn't hike the Pitons, but we did some walking in the trail. We stopped and not only smelled the flowers, but we put them on our heads as well.  That's what life is all about . . to have fun!

There are many things to do in St. Lucia, including snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, sailing, hiking, and birdwatching. 

When in St. Lucia, you got to try the Piton lager beer.  It was terrific.  But the beer tasted better while drinking it with my great friends and having so much fun at the pool.  This was the highlight of our trip.

St. Lucia is also a banana industry island.  I tried this banana-flavored soda, and I so loved it. 

St. Lucia is the only sovereign nation in the world that's named after a woman.  Its name personifies adventure and inspiration.  That itself makes their country unique. 

St. Lucia is not only one of my favorite Caribbean countries, but it is also one of my favorite trips - with two beloved friends, John and Ryan.  I have all these memories and photos . . . that would definitely last a lifetime.
