Canada

Canada is the second-largest country in the world. According to statistics, "its advanced economy, make them the tenth-largest in the world. It also ranks as the world's most diverse and multicultural nation, with a large scale of immigrants."

Its three largest metropolitan areas are Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. These are also the three places I often go to. Canada is a neighboring country, and one of the international trips I do as a flight attendant.

I often identify Canada with a maple leaf. I love seeing maple leaves and all those maple products.  Maple is a Canadian symbol, as displayed on their flag. It is interesting to know that there are approximately 150 species of maple around the world, and ten of those are in Canada. It is why maple is significant to their economy.

Ottawa is the capital of Canada, known for Victorian architecture and the national gallery. You would see Parliament Hill, a beautiful gothic building on the banks of the Ottawa River. There's a Peace Tower's bells chiming at a specific time.

Ontario is the main economic hub and known for its natural resources. Toronto is the capital of Ontario. It's the home of Niagara Falls, one of the most famous and biggest waterfalls in the world.

When the sun shines brightly during the day, a rainbow will form as a result of the mist in the air around the falls. Looking for a picture-perfect like mine? Most tourists wait for the rainbow to come out.

To visit Niagara falls is on my bucket list. When I immigrated from the Philippines in 2012, this was one of the places I visited during my early months. I went back a couple of times, but I wouldn't mind revisiting it.

Canada is also home to more than 750 lighthouses, given that it has the world's largest coastline. So far, I have seen two - the Queen's Wharf in Toronto and St. George Island Lighthouse in Halifax. More photos and stories about these two lighthouses on my "Traveling Lighthouse" blog.

BRITISH COLUMBIA

Vancouver is a city in British Columbia. It has earned its reputation as "one of the most beautiful cities in the world" with its mountain backdrop and beaches. They have extensive parks and are often called a "paradise for outdoor activities."

Squamish is my favorite place in Vancouver. It is on the northern tip of the island, surrounded by mountains. Not only is it my favorite place, but my visit in December 2018 was one of the best Christmases I've had with my kids. We crossed the border from Washington State to discover that there is such a breathtaking place like this. It's a natural landscape over the mountains of Whistler, and the only way to go up is by gondola. The endless views of snowcapped mountains are so captivating that you wouldn't be bothered by the cold weather. For the first time, I did not. And for the record, another best thing about Squamish - it was the only place we've ever played on snow. Nothing would beat this wonderful experience.

NOVA SCOTIA

Halifax is the capital of Nova Scotia. It is a major business center known for its maritime history. Tourism here showcases their culture, scenery, and coastline. I took a kiddie "Theodore boat" ride to get an up-close look at St. George Island Lighthouse. It was a cool ride with a tour guide, discussing the harbor's history and the lighthouse. There's no access to the island, and the only way to see the lighthouse is through the sailboat. You're in the right place to find good fish and chips for dinner.

QUEBEC

Quebec is a predominantly French-speaking province in Canada.  Quebec has an abundance of maple trees and by far the largest producer of maple syrup in Canada.

Quebec City is the capital of Quebec and a popular travel destination because of its history and attractions. The old Quebec City is the best place to explore its history. Because of the French vibes, and if you are a fan of French onion soup, it's good to try it here. See if you would like it.

Montreal is the second-most populous city in Canada. It is named after "Mount Royal," the triple-peaked hill in the city's heart. Montreal's most popular tourist area is the Historic Old Montreal, where you can explore the cobblestone streets while learning about the history. After a long walk, you can dine at one of the restaurants. There are plenty of good ones here.

I love buying maple syrup in Canada. My favorite donut when in Canada is, of course, the maple donut, partnered with Tim Horton's coffee.  It's a must for me.

Canada is naturally beautiful but very cold during winter. There's so much more to explore in this big country. One place still on the top of my list is the Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada's oldest national park. I have to see more historic lighthouses on their coastline.

Canada is a drive away from the U.S. and a short plane ride. I know for sure, I would add more to these great places I've already seen.
